Schrade Knives SCHF17 (MSRP $66.66) – @Trueblonde64

The Schrade SCHF17 is a 2014 addition to their extreme survival line. This one is a weight forward tanto design coming in at just under 12 inches of 1/4 inch thick powder coated stainless steel. As we’ve come to expect the blade is delivering beefy durability with a nice budget price. The SCHF17 was delivered as one of the sharpest blades I have seen from Schrade. It gets high marks for comfort of use and jimping & choil lend to a very natural grip for smaller jobs. The weight forward design makes it an excellent chopper. This one won’t win a beauty contest but it’s very functional and I would rank it as a tie for #2 survival knife in the Schrade line behind the SCHF9 and tied with the SCHF1. The 9 remains my favorite because it’s carbon steel and not stainless. The 17 would be a number 1 pick for a wet environment from Schrade.
